Donetta “Doni” Gunnells is a West Coast-based soul line dance coach, instructor, and choreographer. Affectionately known as “Doni,” she founded CardioSole in 2016, in her native city of Los Angeles, CA. 

From the board room to the dance floor. Before discovering soul line dancing in 2014, Doni built a successful career as an HR corporate executive. But then fate stepped in! What started as a casual interest in a fitness dance class, quickly turned into a beloved pastime, and ultimately; one of the greatest passions of her life. Call it destiny or a sweet blessing, line dancing became the catalyst for a transformative shift in both her professional and personal life- a move she never saw coming, but one that brought fulfillment, purpose, and joy.

With an impressive portfolio of choreographed dances, multiple national award nominations, and a 2025 Best Choreography National Award, Doni shows no signs of slowing down. Teaching is her gift, and it’s a gift that keeps on giving. She brings passion, precision, energy, and fun to every dance she teaches and every step she take
